Some humans extrapolate their anthropocentric tendencies to other humans and even to other species. Therefore they think that because they are self-centered, it means that other humans are self-centered. Hence, humans first look out only for themselves. They continue the idea with all members of any particular species look out only for themselves. This idea is not only untrue, it is unfortunate. Many humans go to great efforts to assist not only other humans, but also members of various species. However, what may surprise you is that in the non-human world, there exist an abundance of 'good samaritans' who cross the 'barrier' and reach out to a being in need regardless of race, color, sex or species! This video shows several examples of just such action from non-humans (and concludes with a sad example of certain humans remarkably unwilling to even help one of their own). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y9BmOBhTy8 There is much inspiration in these not-so-random acts of kindness for as the saying goes: |
